The firm has a sound management team.
The management team of the firm is composed of the following:
Recruitment standards
TMK & CO. has grown from a small firm of 5 staff to the current staffing of over 35 staff because mostly of its sound human resource policies. We carry out recruitment on an annual basis, we recruit some of the best graduates from the universities every year and we put them on our training program. The best candidates are retained whereas those who we cannot absorb are assisted to find work elsewhere including getting placements with our clients. We recruit staff based on purely their performance and suitability for the positions available. In addition to such procedures as IQ tests, staff undergo practical interviews in order to assess their suitability for the personnel specification of the posts and likelihood that they will fit in the culture of the firm. We are an equal opportunity employer irrespective of gender or race.
Promotion Policies
TMK & CO. staff undergo an appraisal process annually to assess their performance. The appraisal process is transparent and there are procedures in place for appeal in case a staff is not satisfied with the appraisal process. Staff are promoted based on the results of the appraisal process. Staff normally join the firm as Audit Assistants, after undergoing training and gaining experience, they are promoted to Audit Seniors. After undergoing more training and experience plus qualifying as a professional accountant, they are promoted to Audit Supervisor and later Audit Managers. Audit Managers are planned to become the future partners of the firm.
Professional training procedures applied
All staff at TMK & CO. undergo professional training. There are three major categories of trainings that are provided at TMK & Co. On the job training is carried out for all staff at all levels by their seniors so that the staff understand the technical aspects of their work and develop as accountants. This is mostly done while work is being carried out. This method of training is also very useful in passing over the culture of the firm to new & junior staff.
On a monthly basis, structured in-house training is carried out mostly by managers and in some cases external trainers. This training covers challenging topics that the staff would have come across during their work or current issues affecting the accounting profession such as new accounting and auditing standards.
In addition to on the job training, all staff are sponsored and encouraged to pursue professional qualifications that enables them to become members of professional accounting bodies such as ACCA, ICPAU, CPAK etc.
In addition, staff are sponsored to participate in seminars and workshops related to their professions that are normally organised by (ICPAU) , (ACCA) , URA and other organisations. All our staff must be up to date with the requirements of the membership of their professional accounting bodies including the Continued Professional Development (CPD) criteria.
